The Chills are a band from Dunedin, New Zealand fronted by the rare talent of Martin Phillipps.
Martin has a single-minded determination to take quality, original NZ-sounding, melodic rock music global. His requirement of band members has been to meet a standard of musicianship, which is necessary to deliver The Chills songs with essential consistent energy. This determination stems from the punk rock ethics of Martin’s musical awakening and from the subsequent proximity to people like Chris Knox who drove home how crucial it was to deliver music always with intensity and conviction.
This live energy is the central reason why The Chills are remembered fondly in all of the thirty-nine countries that they have thus far visited. It’s the combination of this AND the consistent quality of their songs which have established The Chills as one of the most well-known New Zealand groups to date - particularly in the US, UK and Europe.
The band have many faithful friends around the world and a new generation (Peter Bjorn and John, Songs, The Go Find, Panda Bear, The Shins et al) are now covering or attempting to emulate The Chills unique sound.
THE STORY OF METALACHI...
On a hot summer night in Veracruz Mexico circa 1982, Consuela Espinoza stumbled out of her dilapidated shanty and into Rock N Roll history. What began as an innocent night of snorting horse tranquilzers in a hotel room with seven members of the village jai alai team went on to produce the greatest metal band to ever live. Unhampered by a steady regime of tequila and ill advised sumo lessons, nine months later five bastard children where born. Unable to care for her hungry offspring and concerned that motherhood would seriously interfere with her Tuesday night Karaoke league, Consuela hastily packed the babies into the saddlebags of a burro and sent her children off to America in search of a better life. Against all odds, 14 years later, and nearly dead from dehydration, the burro knelt down to drink from the stagnant waters of the Rio Grande just ouside of Juarez Mexico -mere yards from the U.S. border. With one fleeting burst of energy the brothers Espinoza cinco climbed from their leather restraints and scampered the vast reaches of the river, collapsing onto the sweet amber hue of American soil. As if by destiny, lodged in the sand beneath their tanned faces was a record sleeve upon which were the words "PARANOID" and "BLACK SABBATH". For many years to follow, this definitive black metal album served not only as a teacher and a mentor..but also as a friend. From these bleak and humble begins grew the seed that would OFFICAL BIO
eventually be the band we know today. Often referred to as the greatest heavy metal band to ever live..always referred to as...METALACHI.
THIS EVENT WAS MOVED FROM THE STAR THEATER - all tickets from the Star Theater for THE BLACK QUEEN will be honored at Dante's.
There is a certain charm to metal songs and the melodies that have become memorable from ages past. Covers are one way that bands pay homage to the tunes and the influential bands that have made them. The covers are an interesting exploration into how a melody sets a mood and paints our mood and life.
Steve 'N Seagulls are a country band from Finland and play bluegrass versions of popular metal/hard rock songs. They blew up in the scene with their cover of "Thunderstruck" by AC/DC that had a bunch views (25 million and counting) on Youtube.
Since then, they've garnered a steady following and an ardent fan base.
The band is made up of Remmel on vocals, acoustic guitar, balalaika and mandolin; Herman on vocals, banjo and guitar; Hiltunen on accordion, kantele, mandolin, keys and flute; Pukki on double bass and vocals with Puikkonen on drums, percussion and vocals.
Their recent release 'Brothers in Farms' is warm and wonderful in every aspect. I was very surprised at how well the songs were handled and how innovative the approach was to deal with the melodies. These guys are very intelligent in how they incorporate even the most intense, heart-wrenching and mean sounding songs into the happiest, uplifting and inspiring tunes that will brighten up your day. They've played at concerts like Wacken Open Air and probably played at a street in near you and that's how awesome this band is.
Born and raised in East Texas, Koe Wetzel is rapidly gaining momentum in the Texas scene. The band brings a strong mixture of southern rock energy and East Texas charm.
Koe began performing at an early age. Overnight, he had what seemed like an immediate fan base in his home state. He has since brought together this band and hit the road touring heavily. The band is made up of Koe Wetzel (Vocals/ Acoustic Guitar), Andres Rocha (Drums), Mason Morris (Harmony Vocals/Bass), Jerrod Flusche (Rhythm/Lead Guitar), and Michael Odis Parrish (Lead Guitar.)
As the band continued to play shows, Koe began writing in between performances. Bringing personal experience and inspiration from others to life with a melody was second nature to the young artist, "Being able to connect with an audience, or a fan, because they feel like they can relate to your lyrics is one of the coolest experiences in the world. There's no greater feeling than hearing that your lyrics or your song mean something to someone."
Koe Wetzel's album, "Noise Complaint" was released in 2016 and the band has hit the studio to work on their sophomore album.
Following the success of her current debut North American tour, author/ spoken word artist SABRINA BENAIM has confirmed a second run of shows set to run March 27-April 20.

Sabrina is the author of best-selling book of poetry DEPRESSION AND OTHER MAGIC TRICKS (published by Button Poetry, also home to Neil Hilborn). Her videos online have reached over 100 million people.
The shows are poetry readings with a sense of humor and hope. While the subject matter can sometimes be dark it is also uplifting as it brings out in the open frank discussions of feelings many people share but don't know how to voice.
Joining Sabrina again as her special guest will be CLEMENTINE von RADICS.

Hailing from Chicago's renowned Wax Trax! Records stable of recording artists, My Life With The Thrill Kill Kult have been conjuring up sonic tales of sex, blasphemy and kitschy horror since 1987. Along with label mates such as Front 242, Ministry and KMFDM, Thrill Kill Kult helped develop the industrial music genre, but they themselves continued to evolve, creating one of the most diverse repertoires in modern day music. Their sound can be described as electronic rock, heavily influenced by both disco and funk, yet touches of lounge, jazz and experimental can also be found. One of their most distinctive characteristics is the use of spoken-word samples lifted from B-movies laced throughout their songs. Since debuting, they have released 13 studio albums, and their music has been featured in a variety of films, television/cable shows and soundtracks. Their live performances sizzle with sleaze and infectious grooves.
Thrill Kill Kult continue to release new material via their own SleazeBox Records label (sleazebox.com) and tour extensively with a rotating cast of musicians and dubious characters, however the core of the project has always been Nardiello and Daley, both on record and in the live act. To this day, TKK remain of the most innovative, experimental and controversial cult bands of their generation.
